Vaccines | Streptokinase is a thrombolytic inducing agent that causes the degradation and dissolution of fibrin (thrombi or ante-mortem "clots"). Its widespread use in clinical medicine, especially in the management of cardiovascular diseases prompted Cuba to pursue the commercial production of streptokinase for its domestic use as well as sales of its patented recombinant streptokinase (Heberkinasa) to international healthcare providers. While streptokinase is available in the USA, it is not of Cuban origin. |
